ICEBERG – The Trailer

Over the past 5 months, THIRTY3SOUTH has been working on a project that we hope will make an enormous difference to the lives of Australians; ICEBERG – The Documentary.

In November 2014, one amazing woman, Kirrily Dear, ran 860 km through western NSW in blistering heat to bring awareness to the devastating effects that Domestic Violence has on our communities. She set out to get people talking, what she discovered was just the tip of the Iceberg.

THIRTY3SOUTH was invited to join Kirrily and has dedicated its time and resources on a pro bono basis to bring this home. Along the way we have attracted the amazing Steve Pazvolsky to Direct the project and great things are occurring.

On Friday we released the Trailer to ICEBERG at the International Womens Day breakfast in Newcastle. We hope this momentum can move forward to help us raise more funding, attract production partners and get this story told with the respect it deserves.

If you’d like to support please visit our project at www.runagainstviolence.com

Cheers,

Owen

Hyperlapse by Instagram

Downloaded the latest toy from Instagram today; Hyperlapse. This is one cool little piece of kit that is currently free for download for smartphones and is a really powerful little video time lapse weapon.

Using advanced stabilisation algorithms, the app makes everyday tasks a bit of fun.

We took it out for spin at lunch today on Darby St in Newcastle. Check it out here:

A little production value goes a long way

This ad for a used car could be the reason the Australian new car market has all but disappeared. With production value like this, I’m sure we’ll see a lot more mid 90’s Barina’s on the road.

Video Engagement: the oldest new trick

Video Engagement | THIRTY3SOUTH

Over the past years there has been an explosion in online video consumption. This has naturally led many brands and businesses to think that video engagement is a new phenomenon, with a whole new raft of challenges to overcome.

We found this great article from Roger Martin in the Harvard Business Review explaining how video engagement is in fact an old tool, which has finally found it’s distribution path after 400 years in the wilderness.

4 Great Recruitment Videos on YouTube and Why They Work

The benefits of video and film to a brand or business are obvious; they connect you to your customer quickly and powerfully. The same is even more powerful when it comes to recruitment. After all, if you want to attract the best people, you need to show them why they should invest 240 days of their lives every year to your organisation.

We love what Kristi Hines has to say about how some of the worlds best companies use video production and film to attract the best people. In this article she sights Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Humana and Shopify as leaders in the field of powerful recruitment video.

The Power of Video

The way we consume content is changing rapidly. We are moving from a world of readers to a world of “lookers” and more often than not our clients are asking us to show them something. Here is a great little explainer video from Shutterstock that discusses the power of video and screen content to engage your audience.

There’s beauty everywhere you look

This week we had the privilege to work with the team at Hunterland to create some Industrial Property Films at Freeway Business Park in Beresfield from a new perspective. Next time you’re driving past on Weakleys Drive or John Renshaw Drive let your mind wonder skyward.

Novoskies

Last week we sent Cal up into the sky strapped to a kite. It wasn’t long before he was getting some great vision of our beautiful city.

Cal’s kite is a GoPro Drone which gives amazing agility to film flying. It can be used for cinematic shots such as these or more intimate locations such as inside larger buildings for a unique perspective.

And for those who might be trying to put two and two together; no it was not us who nearly ran into the Westpac helicopter last week.
